Your friend was at the Sequim, WA Olympic Game Farm. It's also where you see videos of gigantic, fat bears waving at people, and people scared out of their minds when large animals reach their heads in looking for pieces of bread. It's great fun with kids. That is one aspect that the Game Farm has pledged to work on. I believe they've switched to tiny bits of beef jerky and stuff now, to help offset the carb overload from all that bread. They also make sure to monitor the animals and often bring in groups of vet students to help ensure the animals are as happy and healthy as possible. No, just the bears. The bison etc can be rotated in and out, so they graze sometimes and get bread other times. They're also less likely to come after every car that drives through, and are often content to just hang out nearby, so they don't appear to be as prone to overfeeding and fattening from what I recall.
