Oregon Highway Slimed By Overturned Truck Full Of Eels

It’s a day that will go down in infamy for the Oregon Highway Patrol and the Depoe Bay Fire District, who had to clean up this unusual mess. As if a truck full of eels weren’t tricky enough to remove, these hagfish secrete slime when they’re stressed, so when the truck crashed, there was one, massive eel nervous breakdown. The fish were loaded in the back of a truck driven by Salvatore Tragale for transport to Korea, where they are a delicacy. Tragale was driving northbound on 101 when he came upon road construction that had stopped traffic, police say. But Tragale couldn’t stop his truck in time, and containers of hagfish flew. They sailed into the southbound lane, starting a chain reaction of collision.
