Observing leaves fluttering on a seemingly windless day, Jérôme Michaud-Larivière wondered if wind power really required a turbine or could be harnessed with something more subtle.
That was the birth of the Parisian startup New Wind that foresees these colorful wind trees greening urban and residential areas using the breeze.
The trees are make less noise than the birds that might try and roost in them and could supply more than eighty percent of a typical home’s electricity in a year.
Perhaps it’s true, the answers are blowing in the wind.
