It seemed inevitable once the rumours started to circulate and on the RAW after WrestleMania 34, Paige made her retirement official in what was another emotional moment.
Ric Flair and Edge both know what that feeling is like. What made Paige’s retirement so emotional, though, was that one career-ending injury back in January resulted in her having to call it a day at only 25-years-old.
For someone who has grown up around the business, knowing it’s an end so early probably isn’t easy.
WWE did decide to keep her on television, though, as the following night on SmackDown LIVE, commissioner Shane McMahon announced her as the new general manager, replacing Daniel Bryan.
After that spot with Sasha Banks at a live event, it took her four months to announce that retirement decision officially. Until then, there was slight hope that she could make a return, especially as she stood side by side with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville of Absolution.
However, when she got hold of the microphone, it was clear what was going to happen. Now, Paige has opened up to Edge and Christian on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness where she has revealed exactly what happened when she walked back through the curtains after announcing the upsetting news.
