Whether they're your jam or you couldn't care less about them, Moon Taxi is a notable example of local boys made good. Over the past decade or so, the quintet of Belmont alumni has evolved from Phish-loving stalwarts of the local house-party and club circuit to a popular, polished pop act that tours internationally (including a two-night headlining stand at the Mother Church at the end of October) and signed to RCA at the end of this summer ahead of its as-yet-unnamed fifth studio album.
The release date for said album remains TBA, but the group has released a video for the single "Two High," which dropped in May and climbed to No. 26 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart by mid-September. Taken in context of the current social and political turmoil in the U.S., both the song and the video are essentially telling you "Don't let the bastards get you down" — believe in your ability to find and do good in the world. The video, which tags along with the band to various tour stops and fun outdoor hangs on days off, nicely complements the sunny lyrics and generally slick, sweet pop.
