As much as we hear about how tireless and saintly mothers are, it’s worth remembering the reality of their humanity and the limits that come with it, as the official trailer for Tully so dutifully reminds us. Focus Features has just released the full trailer for the comedy movie starring Charlize Theron (The Fate of the Furious, Mad Max: Fury Road) about motherhood and parenting in general. Marlo (Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Mark Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis).
Tully is directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody, the creative duo who made Juno and Young Adult. It’s produced by Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert; Reitman and Helen Estabrook through their Right of Way Productions; Cody and Mason Novick; and Theron, A.J. Dix and Beth Kono through Denver & Delilah Productions.
