Paint or home improvement stores typically shake a new can of paint in a machine to mix it for prompt use. But old paint or unopened cans that have been sitting around awhile begin to separate and require a thorough remixing. A mixer paddle on an electric drill mixes the paint quickly and with a minimum of effort.
