Jemele Hill may regret going to Twitter in the first place to talk about President Trump, but she stands by her much-noted assessment in September that Trump is a “white supremacist.”
The ESPN personality, who shifted last month from a position as co-anchor on the 6 p.m. “SportsCenter” to become a writer for the network’s Undefeated vertical, was speaking Wednesday on ABC’s “The View.” Hill also told the hosts that if she could revisit the tweets she posted in October suggesting that fans boycott advertisers who work with the Dallas Cowboys, which got her a two-week suspension from ESPN, she would forego the social-media platform in favor of a column that could have provided more “nuance” on that issue.
Asked right away about her Trump tweet, which White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders described at the time as “a fireable offense,” Hill explained that it came in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville and Trump’s seeming reluctance to criticize the white supremacists involved.
