Dubai New Year's Eve 2018 Burj Khalifa Fireworks

Huge crowds gathered to celebrate the start of 2018 in Dubai, as the Burj Khalifa - the world's tallest building - served as the focal point for the UAE's New Year celebrations. This year, the authorities decided against fireworks and chose to project a massive LED light show onto the structure. The display, running down the east side of the 828-metre-tall tower, showed Arabic calligraphy, geometric designs and a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's first president.
