While ancient materials like mosquitos stuck in amber can’t really bring back the dinosaurs (or dino-sours, for you Jurassic Park fans), scientists can learn a lot from ancient life forms. They can learn so much, in fact, that there is actually a field of study called paleoecology. By studying ancient pollen, for example, scientists have been able to learn about life during warmer periods in the earth’s history.
