Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional is the consummate songwriter, always finding a way to transcribe his emotions with the pen. But in the video for the band’s latest single “We Fight,” he has some help getting that message on paper.
Directed by Emmy-nominated artist and comic book writer David Mack (Netflix’s Jessica Jones, “Daredevil” comic series), the stop-motion, watercolor-based visuals illuminate the compelling rallying cry from Carrabba, who seems ready to burst into action from the page. It’s a frenetic presentation that acts as the perfect complement for the restless but rousing song, including the massive wave that washes over the piece when the bridge comes crashing in and the shifting patterns that decorate Carrabba’s facade to illustrate the theme of focusing inward to empower himself and others to “fight our way out.”
