Why There’s An Opioid Crisis

The opioid crisis has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. Loads of media outlets, including John Oliver, have done stories on the opioid crisis, but few of them are digging into the science of the opioid crisis. This SciShow installment explains what opioids do to your brain, why they’re so addictive, and what scientists are doing to help save people from overdosing on opioids. Unfortunately, despite the work being done, there’s a still long way to go.
