
Americans think that we have a monopoly on housing crises, but we definitely do not. Brits are struggling under crippling rents (almost nine hundred pounds a month for a house with a shower in the kitchen?) and impossibly high housing prices. And “impossibly” isn’t an exaggeration––it would take someone nearly fifty years to save up to buy a house in London. What’s causing the problem? The British government is actively working against homebuyers.
