The Cowboys made a somewhat surprising decision to make Darren McFadden inactive Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
With star running back Ezekiel Elliott serving the second game of his six-game suspension by the NFL, Dallas went with just two backs -- Alfred Morris and Rod Smith.
McFadden was active for the first time this season in the previous week's game at Atlanta, but he played only one snap, rushing for minus-2 yards.
Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith was inactive for the second straight week as he continues to deal with back and groin injuries. Byron Bell started in his place after Chaz Green struggled mightily filling in for Smith against Atlanta.
Smith was one of the first players to take the field at AT&T Stadium and went through an extensive workout, but ultimately he didn't play.
"I don't know if he can play [Thursday]," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "I wouldn't want to assess that. By not playing tonight, we certainly thought that it would give him a better chance to play Thursday."
