Neil deGrasse Tyson is a pretty smart dude. But no matter how smart he is, he’s nowhere near as smart as an alien species with a 1% difference in DNA from us. The difference between us and chimps, in other words, would be the same us between us and these kinds of aliens. Prepare to have your mind blown:
