In 1977, the Voyager mission headed off into the cosmos bearing a message for any intelligent life it might encounter in the future on the Golden Record.
Packed with data on Earth and the life it contains, this artifact will likely outlast anything else we leave behind, so it’s fascinating to see the 116 pictures NASA chose to include (and not to include) in humanity’s photo album.
