Kashmir In Search Of Lost Paradise

Kashmir, a country where our ancestors once suspected the Garden of Eden, has been torn between three countries - India, Pakistan, China. The nature here is beautiful today as it was thousands of years ago. The earth is abundant and life would be wonderful ... ... if not for this captivating feeling of bondage. Kashmir's independence lasted only a short while, and since the 1940s, the flame of rebellion has been smoldering in this Muslim-dominated country. Stanislas Giroux , a photojournalist, globetrotter and prospective doctor, traveled to Indian Kashmir for more than three weeks. He fell in love with this still beautiful country, he admired the openness and patience of its inhabitants, he shared their concerns. Stanislas captured his impressions in this video: brilliant landscapes and bitter poverty, Islamic piety and street fighting - Kashmir is all that and more. Will the Garden of Eden once again bloom? Are people coming to rest? Is independence the panacea? Who knows ... The short film does not want to politicize, it's just a sensitive, understanding look at the distant land and a friendly handout across visible and invisible borders. In 3 weeks exploring Kashmir, i experienced an overwhelming contrast of beauty, hospitality, and tragedy. This video is what i saw in 3 minutes. This is my video-attempt to make people aware of this misunderstood part of the world, spread the word, and try to make things change. "
