Taking Down Seattle’s Largest Hardwood Tree

In the front yard of the house where I grew up, there grew an enormous maple tree that eventually came to take over the lawn, push up the driveway, clog the gutters, and threaten the water lines, but, wow, was it a gorgeous sight to behold. Thanks to a large crack in the trunk, it had to be taken down, so it’s with a certain amount of sadness I watched this video of Seattle’s largest hardwood tree, an elm, being removed, piece by enormous piece. No explanation is provided as to why it had to be cut, but Urban Hardwoods — the producers of the video — take these beauties and give them new life creating furniture that preserves their most picturesque qualities for generations to come.
