Walter Cronkite’s Fascinating Eclipse Coverage From 1979

Druids at a Stonehenge replica, roosters in Canada, and even a look at old school eclipse glasses were all part of Walter Cronkite’s coverage of the big event way back in February of 1979. The day was quite a bit chillier, but that didn’t stop enthusiasts from soaking in the experience. The last total solar eclipse in 1979 occurred mainly for the American northwest and for the Manitoba region of Canada. The totality last over 2 minutes and 40 seconds. This will be very similar in duration to Monday’s eclipse. As clearly mentioned at the beginning of Cronkite’s report, the next total solar eclipse was predicted for 38 years later in 2017.
