Here’s a twist on the usual railway crossing, which any parent who’s spent countless hours putting together Thomas the Train sets will wonder how they missed: the drawbridge rail.
Apparently, this is primarily a phenomenon in Queensland, Australia to prevent weak spots in the track so main line trains can travel faster, an idea that hasn’t made the leap to the island of Sodor (even if it does look a bit like Australia).
Make way for the cane train!
