Solid wood is sturdy, easy to process and pleasant to touch. Nevertheless, the natural material has two major disadvantages: furniture made of solid wood is expensive and ensures that any one of the parties breaks a break with each move. The plywood is quite different: it is favorable, of course, in optics, versatile and much lighter than its massive colleague. But how is it actually produced?
The Victoria and Albert Museum in London gives an insight into plywood production 60 years ago and today. Falling, soaking, debarking, removing wood from the trunk, trimming, drying, correcting beauty defects, gluing crosswise and moving into the special press - in fact, not much has changed. Thanks to modern machines and automated processes, wood processing is now much faster. Who has got a catchphrase for some reason now ?
