Hummingbird Feeding Station In Front Of The Window

Hummingbirds are fascinating little birds. They beat very fast with the wings and can thus remain in the air in one place. In addition, they are able to fly sideways and backwards. Melanie Barboni, a researcher at the Earth, Planetary and Space Science Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, describes hummingbirds as the "best creation of Mother Nature". And Barboni must know, finally, she has installed a feeding station for the birds in front of the window of her office. More than 200 hummingbirds pass every day, over 50 of them regularly. Barboni gave them names such as Emeraude, Marshmallow and Stardust, because they recognized them effortlessly. On the campus, the native Swiss woman is known as either a "crazy hummingbird lady" or a "hummingbird whisperer". In her home country, she read only in books about the birds, in Los Angeles they are close at hand.
