Animated Telling Of The Tale Of The 9/11 Survivor Tree

The anniversary of 9/11 still has the power to leave us feeling raw and vulnerable. This story, though, is one of survival and thriving despite the odds. The day the towers came down, a pear tree that had been planted in the 1970s was buried for a month in the rubble, roots broken, trunk blackened, but with just enough of a spark left to try and bring it back to life. According to the 9/11 Memorial site: The damaged tree measured eight-feet tall when it arrived in November 2001 at the Parks Department’s Arthur Ross Nursery in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. It was nursed back to health and today has grown to a height of about 30 feet. Here’s its inspirational story narrated by Whoopi Goldberg.
