Facebook has turned art curator with a plan to bring together five different versions of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" from different museums around the world, via Facebook Live.
"Sunflowers" is one of the most famous sets of paintings in the world, but all five remaining works in the Arles collection are in different galleries and have never been in one place. Next Monday, Aug. 14, the paintings will be introduced by leading art experts in a series of 15-minute episodes. The museums taking part are London's National Gallery (which is leading the event), Amsterdam's Van Gogh museum, Munich's Neue Pinakothek, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art, Tokyo.
The idea is to enable art lovers to compare and view the five different versions. 360-degree video will enhance the presentation, and the artist's great-nephew, Vincent Willem Van Gogh, will narrate part of the experience.
