Nothing like a music festival to draw a crowd, but at this event, getting wet is part of the fun.
This was the 33rd annual Lower Keys Underwater Music Festival, which organizers use to call attention to Florida’s Looe Key Reef, the third largest in the world.
Speakers were suspended under boats to pipe in the tunes and festival-goers enjoyed the chance to explore with an accompanying soundtrack.
“The Underwater Music Festival is a way to celebrate the coral reef, and we celebrate it by looking for a balance between protection of the reef and public enjoyment. The more people realize what’s down there and enjoy it, the more they’re likely to protect it,” explained Bill Becker, co-founder of the music festival.
