If you want to get chummy with a humpback whale, it’s time to start hanging out with Cimeron Morrissey, because they just can’t seem to get enough of her charm.
Earlier this summer, Morrissey and her companion had the exhilarating experience of having two whales surface not five feet away from them as they were stand-up paddling, and this time, she almost got the biggest high-five the animal kingdom can dish out while kayaking in Monterey Bay.
When we caught up with Ms. Morrissey last, she noted that her first amazing whale encounter came in Maui, when a mother whale started nursing her calf while resting a flipper on her paddleboard, so we have to assume these huge animals know a friend when they see her.
