How Much Of Reality Will We Never Understand?

Imagine a cat watching TV. Even if the cat could understand English, the cat wouldn’t be smart enough to understand the concept of television, of drama, and about a million other things it would need to know to enjoy a TV program. The question this makes Exurb1a wonder is this: are there aspects of reality that we, like the cat, won’t understand because we just lack the fundamentals?
