Ant Colony Confronts Carnivorous Pitcher Plants

It may seem cruel to put carnivorous plants into the middle of an ant colony, but AntsCanada was desperate to find a way of controlling the size of his captive insect population without harming his other collections. The solution? Placing two carnivorous pitcher plants in their dwelling. Instead of the slaughter he expected, though, the colony created the kind of well-balanced relationship that make nature work like clockwork.
