Get ready to have your respect for butterflies skyrocket, because those delicate, little flying flowers have a most unusual taste for the tears of crocodiles.
Though it sounds like a story out of ancient mythology, aquatic ecologist Carlos de la Rosa was lucky enough to witness the sight and record it.
“It was one of those natural history moments that you long to see up close,” he said.
This butterfly and bee went to town for fifteen minutes on the croc, and it barely batted an eye. Come to think of it, considering the reaction most of us would have with a bee on one eye and a butterfly on the other, our respect for crocodiles just got bumped up a notch, too.
