Heavenly Selfie With Brazil’s Christ The Redeemer Statue

Throw this one into the category of “You never know until you ask.” Photographer Lee Thompson was in Rio getting shots of the city’s preparations for the World Cup when he and fellow photographer Oliver Hardy asked Brazil’s tourist board if they could climb to the top of the Christ the Redeemer statue. They said yes, and the most epic selfie of all time was born. “As far as selfies go, I can’t compete with popes, presidents, and radical Russians, because as a photographer my job is to take the shots, not star in them,” says Thompson. “But when the opportunity arose to take the world’s first (and so far only) selfie with Jesus, I couldn’t resist.” Here’s the video footage of the climb:
