What most people worry about when digging in the backyard are hidden pipes and gas lines, but one San Francisco resident made the shocking discovery of a little girl in a glass coffin.
This wasn’t a modern murder mystery, though. The Southern California Garden Of Innocence Project discovered the young girl was named Edith Howard Cook. She died in 1876, likely from malnutrition caused by a bacterial infection.
