Meet The Man Who Discovered Phosphorus Burning Pee For Gold

Imagine hanging out in your basement boiling 1500 gallons of human urine. Good times, eh? Oddly enough, though we’ve no doubt there were plenty of snickers from the neighbors when German alchemist Hennig Brand was running around asking for all the pee pots to make gold, he did stumble onto an important discovery: phosphorus. All in all, Brand’s life’s work ended up producing something significant for science. We’re betting he was called “Pee Guy” for a long time, though.
