The demise of France’s Queen Marie Antoinette may be one of the best-known stories of world history, but a ghostly reminder lives on in Paris’ Musée des Arts and Métiers.
This automaton built in 1784 is said to be wearing a dress made of fabric from the queen herself and may even include her own locks of hair. King Louis XVI presented it as a gift to his wife, a somewhat eerie immortalization plinking out eight tunes on a miniature dulcimer.
