Chilling high-wire act removes snow from cables of Canadian bridge

Snow and ice buildup on the cables supporting one of the world’s largest suspension bridges is no joke. When storms hit British Colombia’s Port Mann Bridge, someone has to man the ice scrapers, though. Rope access technicians scale dizzying heights to attach and release chain cables, which act as ice scrapers to clear the debris, thirty collars for each of the 288 cables. Talk about earning your pay the hard way.
