Watch Target's Take on 'The Nutcracker' Starring John Legend and Chrissy Teigen

Target finally aired its holiday spectacular "The Toycracker" last night during ABC's broadcast of "Frozen." The final film, seen here, is the culmination of the holiday campaign by 72andSunny that the retailer has been building up to since October, when it announced that real-life couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen would star in a Broadway-style production alongside popular toys like Elmo, Batman, Barbie and the Trolls. The campaign's heroine, a little girl named Marisol, has been featured in Target's broadcast spots throughout the season in various stages of putting on the show. In the final film, Broadway star Isabella Russo plays Clara, Legend is the Rat King and Teigen is the Nutcracker. The production itself has all the hallmarks of a Broadway spectacular, with the stars belting out showstoppers as well as showing off another side to their voices in a memorable rap battle (which Clara wins with a stunning performance culminating in the words "Feliz Navidad.") The original music was written by Benj Pasek and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid. There are also some great 21st century touches -- like when Clara falls asleep in her room after lamenting that the family Wi-Fi has gone down, or Ken turns to Siri for advice. It's certainly a new take on "The Nutcracker," and the show-within-a-show approach is sure to help Target stand out this holiday among the retailer's competing for the audience's attention.
