If you think our perception about caste and creed is just restricted to just human beings, think again. Do we see animals with the same point of view as well? Well, it seems we do. Recently, PETA UK conducted a social experiment to highlight the perception about race, caste and creed even when talking about animals.
As part of their experiment, members of the animal rights activist group asked people to try a new variety of milk, without disclosing its source in the beginning. Many people tasted it and commented about the milk’s colour, texture and taste; disliking the milk was not evident in any of its tasters. However, all remarks and reactions miraculously changed as the volunteers revealed they all tasted – dog milk. It was, in fact, soy milk according to the PETA blog.
Almost everyone was furious and slammed the volunteers for not disclosing the source beforehand. It was a deception that seemed unforgivable!
As human beings, we love dogs and even consider them as man’s best friend. Playing with them, petting them, all comes very easily to many but what happens to this love when asked to try its milk? Sadly, the hypocrisy is evident – people are okay to drink milk from cows, buffaloes but not that of a dog.
