Astronomer experiences thrill of a lifetime seeing solar eclipse from plane [video]

The heart can’t help but sing when witnessing someone’s joy at experiencing the thrill of a lifetime, and this video taken by solar eclipse project manager for the American Astronomical Society Mike Kentrianakis is nothing if not joyful. “I got corona! There it is! Look at that! Totality! Totality! Oh my God! Look at that! Totality!” he can be heard shouting. “Look at the moon! Full shadow! Completely elongated! 7 o clock! Prominences!” The flight was purposefully rescheduled to coincide with the event thanks to the efforts of astronomer Joe Rao who contacted Alaskan Airlines last year. Now that’s the kind of service we like to hear about from the airlines.
