League of Legends just unveiled the newest gameplay trailer for Irelia, the Defiant Blade. A teaser trailer last week gave us a glimpse at the sword dancer’s backstory, ripe with tragedy and Noxian deaths. Now we can see how she’ll back up her threats to the invaders of her homeland, and it involves magical flying pointy objects.
It's difficult to get a full grasp on her abilities before she hits the PBE on Tuesday (or her champion update page releases), but some obvious elements of her kit provide some information. She’s a mobile assassin, who can throw blades like Xayah and dash around the map like Rakann. A melee bruiser with a deadly dance, she’s going to be a nightmare for top laners. Riot still kept the heart of her character safe, keeping that slippery duelist who can zip in and out of any fight she chooses.
